City Center Doctor

The centers of small towns offer potentially attractive spaces not only for tourist purposes, but also to live and work. People spend there most of their free time and often have emotional connections with such places. In past eras, population groups depended on their city centers to work, to weave social relations and to carry out commercial activities. Today, thanks to an increased mobility, city centres face a number of key challenges to survive and count like they used to. The trend just described is accentuated by the fact that city centers have often deteriorated with the passing of the centuries. In particular, small villages located in the proximity of large attractors (metropolises, tourist centres, etc…) or located in border areas close to more advanced countries are facing some shared specific challenges.

Municipalities are therefore in front line in the battle for revitalizing their cities. This challenge includes the review of available space in historic city centres for new forms of retail trade (e.g. omni-channel shopping), for new productive activities (e.g. start-ups and innovation incubators) and for cultural activities (e.g. creative areas), in order to nurture an environment able to generate creative ecosystems, ventures related to city spaces and community events.

The general objective of CityCentreDoctor project is to encourage the launch of creative activities that can stimulate change and innovation in the historical centres of small towns located in the shadow of larger towns, addressing specific aspects of key sectors (sales, commerce, work and creative culture) and governance processes (participation, public-private collaboration, etc.).

IN-Dipendente – don’t play with the game!

“INDEPENDENTE – let’s take care of ourselves” is a 12-month project that aims to counter the spread of pathological addictions by developing a new approach that fosters direct collaboration between the world of volunteering and local institutions in a PPP (Public-private partnership) perspective. It also creats a network of associations that deal with different (but sometimes linked) addictions to promote a multidisciplinary collaboration. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version) The project develops along 2 main lines of activity, namely the fight against gambling addiction and alcohol abuse, and may serve as a sort of pilot project to test this approach also for future initiatives related to addiction.

CIRCLE – Circular Citizenship for a Long-Lasting Europe

CIRCLE Project, co-funded by the Europe for Citizens Programme 2014 – 2020, introduces the concept of “circular citizen” to define a citizen capable of activating a “sustainable thinking” on Europe, a citizen able to read and understand EU history, even recent, highlighting positive factors and treasuring negative ones, in practice “recycling” them. Within the Twinning between Sarmede and Cocumont, the project intends to re-elaborate past experiences of emigration, effort, suffering and distance from loved ones in order to better understand how difficult it is to foster dialogue between citizens from different countries, but also how in the long run this can enrich not only the protagonists of these events, but also their areas of origin. From the circular economy, then, to circular citizenship.

BEST BY DOING

BEST BY DOING project is direct at thermal tourism, an economic segment that is growing faster than others, and therefore needs more and more specialized and high quality services. The OECD in 2010 has stressed the fact thathigh quality education and training systems are key to the success and strengthening of employment in Europe and that, in addition to technical skills, it is essential to develop soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving and learning skills, which are increasingly important in the working environment.

The project therefore stems from the assumption that lack of work-based experience (such as apprenticeship, “Alternanza scuola-lavoro” model, internship) and related knowledge, skills and competences are one of the factors contributing to the “preparation gap” in the EU today.

The labour market of the future will be increasingly inaccessible for non-skilled people (and in particular young people): “curricular” training seems to be no longer adequate. Students need excellence in training to express excellence in their professions. This excellence must be provided and guaranteed by schools and recognised by companies according to European quality standards.

INNOVATION LAB – FEDERAZIONE DEI COMUNI DEL CAMPOSAMPIERESE

The Federation of Municipalities of Camposampiero area, supported by the Instrumental Body ASI srl, proposes to activate an Innovation Lab in San Giorgio delle Pertiche, equipped with 10 digital gyms, scattered in all the municipalities belonging to the Federation. Ca’ Foscari University Foundation and IUAV University of Venice, as well as the main trade associations and the Chamber of Commerce of Padua are supporters of the project. Finally, the network is completed by Newton-Pertini secondary school, BarsantiLab Voluntary Association and Consorzio delle Proloco del Graticolato Romano.

The project provides for the realization of territorial animation activities, information and co-design, aimed at spreading digital skills and encouraging the birth and consolidation of a business ecosystem able to generate value from digital transition. The role of the Public Administrations included in the partnership will be to share data in open format and to facilitate the encounter
between stakeholders, monitoring the functionality of local infrastructures and the compliance with the rules on data processing.
